History of Apex
Apex was started in 2005 by Stewart Hunt as “Apex Football”
Stewart left ITV’s Sponsorship Department where he had worked for 10 year to pursue his football coaching career having attained his Uefa B Level 3 and being voted Coach of the Year for Hertfordshire by the FA in 2004.
Following the advice of Chris Hambleton, Partnership Development Manager (PDM) for Three Rivers and Watford SSP, Stewart looked into the concept of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD).
Apex Multisports was soon established in 2006 with Lizzy Duck and Gary Insley with the aim of offering affordable, high quality sports coaching in a wide range of sports and physical activities.
By working in partnership with other organisations (SSP’s, Borough and County Councils, the Herts Sports Partnership, National Governing Bodies, Sports Coach UK), Apex Multisports expanded at an exponential rate. From just Stewart, Gary and Lizzy, at one stage in 2009 Apex were delivering high quality Sports Coaching in over 225 schools using well over 40 coaches.
Since 2010 we found that we could not find the right quality of coaches that we were looking for, so we ran a pilot scheme with the help of the Governments Funding for Future Jobs scheme (FJF)to give 6 trainees the opportunity to train with Apex, develop and grow as individuals and make them more employable at the end of the 6 months. In light of the success of this programme, 2011 saw Apex take on 22 more Trainees through the FJF scheme.
Apex can now be divided into 4 main areas;
1) Apex Multisports – Training Staff (External and Internal) and Event Management (Use of inflatables, corporate days etc)
2) Apex Camps – Out of school Term time Holiday Camps – soon to be Ofsted Registered
Providing ”Super” Camps with inflatables, Dance Camps, Musical Theatre Camps, Sports Specific e.g. Football, Basketball etc and Multisports Camps
3)Apex Dance – Street Dance, Cheerleading, Hip Hop, Modern, Tap, Jazz etc
4) Apex Clubs – School term time Breakfast, Lunchtime and Afterschool Clubs including Apex Elite.
